Low Cost Tape Automation

With SMBs more aware than ever of the need for backups, Exabyte is trying to expand their backup offerings for this group. The company has announced that they will be offering new tape automation devices and a new tape drive with "on-demand capacity upgradeability."

The company's new offering is labeled the Magnum 224 LTO library, and they began shipping this week. According to the company, this new product goes up to "4.8 Tbytes compressed, with compressed speeds of up to 172 Gbytes per hour."

The company is looking to start up channel sales by giving solutions providers a free second magazine for sales made this quarter. There are also some other perks for providers and resellers, but the company has not publicly released that information.
