Password Strength Affect the Security

Use combination of upper and lower case characters, numbers and symbols like !"?$%^&( in your password) to increase difficulties of password.

If there were attack by brute force, it would be difficult to stratch or penetrate. Length of Password also important. Use more than 10 Character Combination. How we can we remember it easily? Just produce something that has mean. See The Example

Example : N4n0~b1r0u3 --> nano biru, but composed by upper and lower case characters, numbers and symbols.

Why They THink They Can Succeed

I'm in Washington, DC this week for NECC, and already the trip has been extraordinary. I want to share one story with you.

After the edubloggercon gathering on Saturday, the great folks from Wikispaces held a reception. While mingling with the guests we met a young man, Evan Morikawa, who seemed to be soacking this all in with special interest. He appeared to be about 19 (younder, actually) so we were curious of his connection. It turns out that he is one of the co-founders of Alightlearning.com. That, in istself was pretty cool, but his story is even better.

He was happily attending college in Massachusets, somewhere (Sorry, I forget where) when his friend received an invitation to the premier showing of the Google Wave. Everyone who was lucky enough to be there received an API code so that they could begin to develop apps for this amazing product. That changed their lives. They were so blown away by the possibilities of that app that they then began to view college as just being in their way. They dropped out of college to begin work on their app idea.

That alone is pretty amazing and gutsy isn't it? But, we loved his response when asked why he thought they could make it in this economy when other web services have failed. Evan replied, "Because Blackboard sucks and they charge $100,000 per school." :-)

I love their idea for their app, and I love their attitude. Can't wait to see their Google Wave app when it's released later this year. Good luck, guys.

Computer Repair Contracts that Keep You Profitable

If you are trying to set up profitable computer repair contracts for your small business clients, you might have some questions about their real benefits, or at least how to clearly explain these benefits to non-technical small business decision makers.

Many small business technology providers choose not to use on-going agreements and build their business around customers that have short-term needs or need immediate emergency services. If you fall into this category, you need to start thinking about your business realistically and planning long term. Unless you intend to spend a lot of time and money on aggressive marketing tactics or hire a huge number of employees to handle thousands of clients every year, you’re just not going to build sustainable revenue. You need to be prepared to build a solid foundation for your business, and this means focusing on long-term, sophisticated repair and support needs that will require you to enter into on-going relationships with clients that will pay you predictably a certain amount of service revenue each and every month.

Consider the following 3 points when building a solid foundation for your business on computer repair contracts.

1. Computer Repair Contracts Are Essential to Your Business. On-going agreements formalize your working arrangement with clients and provide your company with very highly profitable recurring consulting revenue. This is nothing like the commodity-oriented managed services business that puts you into a low-margin "box-pusher" mentality. Repair agreements contribute to your longevity in a way that no number of quick fixes or short-term solutions can, because they represent your commitment to cater to the real long-term needs of your small business clients … and most importantly, your clients’ commitment to pay you regularly for your expertise and high-end premium services.

2. The Customer is Not Always Right. Just because a large potential client wants to have his/her attorney rewrite your entire agreement doesn’t mean you should go along with it. If you have done a really good job of building a relationship with each client, you will not likely run into this situation. Start out each new customer on some kind of mutual proving ground project to make sure the relationship will work before you present the idea of your computer repair contracts. And there will be a certain amount of faith and good will build up between the key people in your company and the key people in your client’s business. Most of the time, the only reason a client will ask for a contract revision is because he/she senses weakness and the opportunity to take advantage of the situation. Of course if you focus on the legal niche, it often becomes a matter of price and ego for your customers to bully-you into adopting their one-side contract mentality. So unless your clients are power-hungry attorneys, just follow a set, step-by-step sequence for engaging with new customers and clients, and the issue of a client that wants and demands a total rewrite will usually be a moot point.

3. Be Prepared. You need to have your entire computer repair contracts package planned out and ready to go, because you never know when a new customer or client will be ready to sign. Delaying for a few weeks will not only kill your credibility, but it will also potentially make you miss a valuable opportunity to strike while the iron’s hot.

In this article, we detailed some important points about building a plan for long-term agreements with clients. Learn more about how to build compelling, mutually-beneficial, highly-profitable computer repair contracts that will attract steady, high-paying clients now at the attached link.

Off to National Educational Computer Conference 2009

Yes- it is that time again- off to the National Educational Computer Conference 2009 in Washington, D.C. I will spend the next couple of days talking to exhibitors and educators and participating in one of the most exciting educational technology conferences. I admit going into the Exhibitors Hall is like be a kid in a candy store. Upon entering the Exhibitors Hall you are overwhelmed with the sounds and visuals as each vendor tries to attract you into their venue. I will have some time to meander in the Exhibitors Hall-but I do have a pretty full schedule of interviews set up with some of the top industry leaders that I am really looking forward to.

I just got finished packing my bags and I am sure you want to know what technology I will be taking with me to NECC 2009. While I am gone I will have my trusty Blackberry Curve to stay in touch on the Verizon Network. I will also have my Acer One, my lightweight and dependable netbook with me which you can throw into any bag and not really know its there. To round out my technology attache- I will have my Apple iPod, a Flip Digital Video Camera, and my Olympus digital camera with me. I will also be taking my Livescribe Pulse Smartpen to take notes and for my scheduled interviews. It should be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to seeing all of the latest and greatest new products that are announced and being demonstrated on the floor. With the Stimulus Funding coming down the pike, I'm sure that the vendors will be in a real positive mood and will go the extra mile to make our stay in Washington, D.C. a memorable one.

So to keep in touch while I'm at NECC 2009 you can follow me on Twitter. I will use the hash tag NECC as part of my tweets which you will be able to search. I hope to do some regular postings while I'm at NECC 2009 to keep you abreast of all the happenings. And by the way if you will be attending NECC 2009 shoot me an email maybe we can connect.

The 18th Carnival of Computer Help and Advice

Welcome to the eighteenth monthly Carnival of Computer Help and Advice. Another digest of the best blog articles published recently that help you get the most out of your PCs.

We start this month with regular contributor, Andrew Edgington, who submitted his article Adobe Photoshop Elements Tools - Restoring Old Photos Tips from Master Adobe Elements.

for those who struggle to keep on top of all their computer files, help is at hand. As part of her 7-day guide to declutter your life, Suzanne at Without Dash presents Day 6 - the computer.

Next, a couple of OS specific posts. Jules submitted a tutorial explaining How to Fix Sound Recording Problems in Vista on PCauthorities.com. Collection of Web Freebies author, Nesher, lifts the lid on a largely unknown aspect of XP in the article How to run Windows XP as SYSTEM User?

Justin Acton of JustinActon.com provides a useful tutorial that demonstrates how to Add/Remove Items On SendTo Menu.

To offer a century of tips in one blog post is no mean feat; however, our next two contributors have managed it with some aplomb. Sarah Scrafford lists 100 Firefox Add-Ons to Create a Truly Brilliant Browser at Select Courses, and security-minded Alvina Lopez of the e-Justice Blog offers 100 Tips, Tools, and Resources for Locking Down Your PC.

I will let Ivan, our next contributor, explain his own post:

"Let’s assume you’re at work or at school and you’re on the computer. There’s an enormous chance that you have no administrative privileges and there’s absolutely nothing you can install onto the computer. Let us also assume that you want to use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE. That’s an easy one, ’cause we’ve all heard of Firefox Portable. Finally you download Firefox and you’re happy how you fooled Windows. So you’re browsing and you go to youtube. And what happens? You need to install the Flash Player. Damn… What now…"

Find the answer in Ivan's post Install Flash Player without having administrative privileges at PC Hacks.

If you have posted an article offering computer advice that you want to submit to the carnival then use the form over at our Blog Carnival page to submit it for consideration. If you would like to host a future carnival then please leave a comment on this post or on the carnival page. If you don't wish to have the responsibility for selecting articles or writing the carnival post, don't worry I can do that for you.

Twitter reacts to Michael Jackson's death

Another reason why I love twitter. Today @dwarlick posted a link to this video of twitscoop in which we see clearly how the world was chatting about the news of Michael Jackson's death. Watch closely and you'll see his name appear in the list, but not very large. Then you can see it grow as more and more people spread the news. Suddenly the word arrest appears. Then Cardiac. Finally, at the end you can see the key words have told the story.

Very interesting. I encourage you to visit the twitscoop site and watch the live cloud for a while.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - June 24, 2009) - Mindjet®, the leading provider of personal productivity and collaboration solutions that visually connect ideas, information and people, today announced an image library add-in for MindManager 8 and MindManager 7. Customers now have access to more than 300 bold, rich images that will add depth, visual appeal, and meaning to their MindManager maps.

The new images help users' information come to life. With more visual assets at their fingertips, users can save time and maintain focus by keeping their workflow process moving inside MindManager.

The image library add-in provides seamless integration with MindManager -- users can download the library from Mindjet.com and have access to hundreds of new visual assets within minutes.

"Visually presenting ideas and information through MindManager is a powerful method of communication and collaboration," said Neil Mendelson, vice president of products for Mindjet. "The new image library add-in augments these capabilities and helps our users create that 'wow' factor by adding visual depth and enhanced aesthetic appeal to their task lists, project plans, brainstorming concepts, meeting agendas and more."

Personal or business information and processes can be viewed at a glance, with the ability to drill into details by clicking into sub-topics and branches.

The MindManager image library add-in for MindManager 8 and MindManager 7 is available immediately for the English, German and French Windows desktop versions of the product. Japanese will be available at a later date. It's available for purchase and electronic download at the Mindjet online store or through a Mindjet corporate sales or channel representative for $29.

Be Careful If Hosting In Etamhost!!!

By. Agus47-jatiblogger

This is the title of my friend post. Yes, he is having problems with the hosting of its use. This can override the all Blogger in the internet world. Check before the hosting you will be use. Look for a reference as much as possible on Google or another search engine to avoid problems later. This is more than just a testimonial to remind the blogger to be more careful.

argunbdg.com Testimonial:

Original language.

Baru empat bulan berjalan, tepatnya 2 minggu yg lalu, tanpa hujan, tanpa angin, tiba2 blogku kosong tanpa data sedikit pun! Awalnya saya pikir mungkin masalah jaringan yg memang sering terjadi dengan blogku yg kadang tidak bisa tampil, tapi setelah saya periksa ke dalam account hosting/database ternyata tak satu pun data yg tampak kecuali tinggal namanya doank (domiannya saja) argunbdg.com termasuk 2 domain lainnya pajagalan.com dan ibnu.argunbdg.com! Datanya kemana?…

Cuma seorang pemula yg ga perlu dilayani bgt!!!

Terus terang, sebagai pelanggan saya merasa disepelekan dengan bisnis hostingnya, saya kira dia benar2 profesional menggeluti bisnisnya, ternyata cuma PEMBUAL belaka! Padahal menurut perjanjian pelayanannya kan sampe satu tahun, tapi… baru saja 4 bulan dah ketahuan belangnya….

Apa anda Tidak Merasa Khawatir?…

Untung saja, dengan rasa tanggung jawab, hakimtea menawarkan hostingnya untuk saya gunakan sementara, sampe saya mau memilih sendiri hosting mana yg bisa dipercaya melayani dan menjamin keamanan database pelanggannya. :-)

Klo bukan kita yg bersikap kritis, lalu siapa?…

This the English translate.

Finally .... YME with the grace of God, this day I can again create a blog, even if it also must repeat from the beginning again, after more than 200 articles (whether you already want to publish in any form schedule still do) I saved in a database somewhere to go missing! Out giving course, I strongly constrained by etamhost mumps.

Initially, on February wrapper, I get a reference from hakimtea to create a blog hosting service with the use of etamhost. According to him I said good, so I am just the same How well be regarded a master in the field of internet, especially to create blog, as well as learn a lot from him.

Every day and night I update my blog with various articles to approximately 5 articles / day to increase visitor traffic from our friends in the country like any other countries. For a new world of blogs, of course, this is not easy.

Just four days running, exactly 2 weeks ago I, with no rain, no wind, suddenly my blog a little empty without any data! At first I thought perhaps I was a network problem often occurs with my blog I sometimes can not appear, but after I check in to the hosting account / database was not any data unless you appear to live his name only (to its domain only) argunbdg.com including 2 domain and other pajagalan.com ibnu.argunbdg.com! Where the data ...

I already tried the costumer contact via YM @ yahoo.com to cs.etamhost also send a message via porum, but until now have not had a response to any letter. So also with the hakimtea I sent sms to its the etamhost owner Deny Koerniawan, initially there is a reply to the answers' icukcole, icukcole '(later afternoon-evening later), but tomorrow and the day after tomorrow will never be contacted again have more answers. Maybe he thought I is not important! Just a beginner you do not need to be so!

Overtly, as a customer I feel disappointed in a business with its hosting, I think he was really running the business professional, the only purely bucko! According to the agreement the ministry is one year, but ... just 4 days i discovered it killer.

My disappointment is not replaced by anything. I only hope do not have the other bloggers I like to use cheap hosting etamhost, you may initially OK, but after a few months ahead suddenly lost all data!

Are you not worry? ...

Lucky course, with the sense of responsibility, hakimtea hosting offer its use to me while, until I want to choose their own hosting where you can be trusted to serve and ensure the security of the database clients. :-)

For the sustainability, peace and comfort nusantara blogger, I ask the blogger a good complaint to support me, even I need to re-post this article, though he is assigned, as a warning, so that the local hosting business man, in general, improve service and guarantee the security of the database of the customers! For if you are a blogger, I also believe you will never want to experience the same!

Excuse me! I do not intend provoke, but this problem should really be! What we do not be critical, and who ...

Deleting Unused Items in Captivate 4

I was planning on doing a short video on how to delete Unused Items in Captivate 4 and then I saw RJ Jacquez's tweet about the Tip. Deleting unused items is just one way to make your projects size smaller and have them run more efficiently. When you open a Captivate 4 project with unused items Captivate 4 will prompt you. So it is a good idea to remove unused items within your projects. I thought it would be easier to show you how to do it, using Captivate 4. So here without any further explanations is my Captivate video.

Ensures your Internet Connection using Command Prompt

If you have Internet Connection, Some connection trouble maybe an usual thing (Disconnected or Request Time Out). With Ping You can ensure connection to another computer. I have practiced that with Ping another Computer our connection is ensure to always connect. Because Ping always waiting for remote site answer's, Beside the connection will be faster.

I have try it and can compare the connection using Ping and not using Ping. I feel a more better Internet access if we Using Ping Command. If we using Ping, the long time disconected can be avoid.

This Especially good if we use computer together with another user in Lab, Library or Public kind of Internet Services. Our computer with Ping Command will be ensure to allways get bandwidth and internet acces because Ping Command always send request and waiting for it's repplies.

The command is completely simple and all of people study computer know about this..

just type in cmd (Windows command line or Linux terminal)

ping [domain name] -t

example ping www.indosatm2.com -t

a little value of time and TTL mean a better speed and access. In my example picture's below mean a bad connection. A good connection usually have time value 200 to 500 mS, but my connection value is about 2 Second. That was a bad connection...!!! Poor Me..!!. A Request Time Out mean a trouble in connection, but if you let this window open, it will try to always connect to the Internet. While another people that doesn't let this window open have a less opportunity to allways connect to Internet.

Now you can feel a better connection than other people who doesn't use this command. Feel always connect in public Internet place more than another person's

Insert, Update and Delete in one PHP File

Why the experienced people in PHP programming always ask to do a coding in one PHP file..??
I mean all manipulation do in a one php file. It will be usefull to the proggrammer in session task and the designer that give a touch CSS and theme.

The programmer in session task can do a little of session coding and the designer also Implement the design in less amount of file.

But the difficulties maybe it hard to review the large size of code and the file become larger (but PHP file ussualy less than 30 KB, 30 KB is too large for me that ussualy have about 3-9 KB) With a OOP this can be right handle..(but poor me I dont use OOP Type of Programming)

Printer Service Business Tips for Service Company Owners

Does your company provide printer service to small businesses?

And if so, would you like to build a recurring service stream from more long-term clients, rather than constantly chasing down one-shot-deal customers?

Many owners of printer service companies cringe when they think about the complexities of setting up payment policies, terms and credit/collections. However, it doesn’t have to be difficult. Just make sure you take into account your own unique business model and the types of clients you serve when you are determining how to set up important items like credit and payment plans.

The following 3 pieces of advice will help you establish sound printer service payment terms.

1. Seek Help from Your Accountant to Set Up Credit Policies. Your accountant will be in a great position to help you set up a system to evaluate completed credit applications and credit reference letters. Make sure you have credit policies in place so you can safely extend credit to your clients and ensure that you get paid. In addition, be sure to discuss how you’ll arrive at, monitor and enforce established credit limits with your important clients. Writing off debt can be extremely painful, both financially and psychologically. So you really need to spend serious time discussing important credit issues with your accountant and setting up procedures and controls. Because credit and collections can also cross over into legal issues, you should also consult with your attorney before finalizing procedures.

2. Know How You Will Get Paid. Regardless of how you set up and communicate your payment policies for long-term printer service contracts, you must have a firm grasp on how you will get paid by your clients. Those in the computer business are literally all over the map when it comes to payment terms, credit policies and billing procedures. Some insist on cash-on-delivery (COD). Others trust their gut feel or a handshake and just assume all the financial risk. You need to have a really good plan for ensuring you get paid ... or you’re not going to last long.

3. Explain Your Payment Terms and Retainer Deposits. You’ll do fairly well with printer service contracts if you explain your payment terms and require up-front retainer deposits. Attach firm due dates to payments and make sure your clients understand that your policies and expectations are not just suggestions. Don’t even think about granting any substantial amount of credit to a client without first securing and processing a completed credit application. Your payment policies and retainer deposits need to be worked clearly into your contracts and discussed before you agree to work with any client.

In this brief article, we presented 3 tips to help you establish payment policies with your clients so you ensure you get paid on time and in full. Learn more ways to improve each printer service contract and attract great, steady, high-paying clients now at the attached link.

Printing from Excel - Part 2

In the last post I showed how to format an Excel sheet so that it fitted to the page and added page numbers. The end result as displayed in Print Preview is as shown here.

As we can see there are no gridlines on the print. We can either remedy this by selecting border types on the table or, more easily, we can set a print option to show simple gridlines. To do this go to Print Preview, click the 'Setup...' button and select the 'Sheet' tab. Here, I select the Print Gridlines option, as shown.

After I click 'OK', the Print Preview looks like this. I have zoomed in on the preview so that you can see the gridlines more clearly.

The above is a preview of page 2, where we can see that there are no column headers as there are on page 1. We can tell Excel to print the column headers on each page to make the print of the table more user-friendly. To do this I need to close the Print Preview, and select 'Page Setup' from the 'File' menu, which enables some extra options. On the 'Sheet' tab I click the circled button.

This opens the following option box. I now click the row that I want to repeat. In this case it is row 1, so I click the appropriate button as circled in red, and close the option box by clicking the button circled in green. This will enter the appropriate code into the 'Rows to repeat at top' option. After, I click 'OK' I have a well formatted spreadsheet ready to be printed.

As you can see there are a number of other options that I have not explored here. If you have a document that prints on many pages you may want to click the 'Margins' button and adjust the size of the print area by clicking and dragging the various dotted lines, but be careful to leave enough of a margin around the table so that the print is not ruined - at least a centimetre (or about half an inch) should be enough. If you have a particularly wide document you may not be able to fit it onto one page width, in which case you can also set the print to repeat columns in much the same way as I did for rows. Printing Excel spreadsheets may be a fiddly business, but with a little effort you can achieve some very good results.

An Amazing Day

Today was an historic day in the world. The elections in Iran sparked demonstrations by the people there insisting on their freedom. They objected to what they call a fixed election and have, in spite of everything, taken their anger to the streets in incredible numbers. And, they used the social medium of the web to help spread their message.

They posted pictures on Flickr, they tweeted messages and images on Twitpic, posted videos on Youtube and in blogs, created petitions. We were able to follow up to the minute events and see incredible images like these in the Boston Globe. There was so much of a new leak there today that the Government shut down the social media sites. Listen to the end of this video to hear how the government was trying to shut down communication to the outside world. And, when word got out that the government was cracking down on access to social media sites, the world rallied to provide them with the addresses of proxies that they could use to bypass the filters to keep the lines of communication open. Take this tweet, for example, "RT @oliverg: pass it on RT @emsenn:Iran proxies 218.128.112.18:8080 218.206.94.132:808 218.253.65.99:808 219.50.16.70:8080 #iranelection" It was simply amazing to watch. The world was responding to the human story here, without regard to the politics between Iran and their own countries.

There was so much coverage on those sites that some folks began to criticize CNN for not being up to speed with the twitterers and bloggers, etc. And that criticism boiled over until CNN just HAD to respond. This is a perfect video to tell the story of the nature of news today. PERFECT.

When Clay Shirky writes the next edition of his book, "Here Comes Everybody" he's SURE to include many of the stories that have arisen from the events of today. And, stay tuned. This is far from over. Neither the story of the election nor the story of the coverage of the election.

This was a GREAT day to be working with teachers and trying to show them the power of social media, Twitter, specifically. In Tweetdeck I created a Search column for the word Tehran and that's how I followed the events. There was a hashtag of #iranelections too that I could have chosen to follow. But, the bottom line is that I was following up to the minute reports from the people who were living the event.

It was also interesting how some folks commented that they wondered how the Tienanmen Square incident would have been different had the technology been as it is today. Hmmm... I wonder.

P.S.
This is another example just tweeted (9:31PM) by @whynot88: http://iran.twazzup.com/ - real-time tweets from Iran. And this one posted by ??? (I can't find the post again!) that shows pics from today and the number of times the image was retweeted: http://picfog.com/search/Tehran

P.P.S. (Tuesday)
This article on BoingBoing talks about how NOT to use the social media to help your cause. Check it out, too. It falls under the heading of "Best Intentions." For example, posting the proxies wasn't the best idea, although it had the best intentions. My point for my post, however, is the same. It was AMAZING to watch this issue being covered on Flickr, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, etc. This changes everything!
