Study: Communications driving India semi sales

India's semiconductor sales will total around $3.8 billion this year, but half of that income, 1.8 billion to be exact, will actually come from the sale of communication products. These numbers are the result of a study by Frost and Sullivan that was commissioned by the India Semiconductor Association.

According to the study: "The share of this (communications) segment will continue to increase as the mobile phone market and wireless equipment market expands rapidly. Shares of segments such as computing and consumer will decline."

As more and more companies move their headquarters or plants to India these numbers will only go up. Although India doesn't make up a large percentage of the semiconductor market, it seems that it is quickly overtaking the work they do in the computing and consumer industries.
