Choose the Best Gaming Laptop

Let's discuss the features of a gamers most look for and what is most important for the best gaming experience:

1) The GPU
GPUs in notebooks used for gaming are going to either be made by ATI or NVidia and have dedicated memory. Many notebooks have shared video which uses the notebooks resources to produce the video (CPU, RAM) and it can not produce framerates to run most of today's high end games. They often even are unable to correctly render 3D effects that games require.

More expensive isn't always a better notebook GPU. For example NVidia has a line out called the Quadro FX. It is more expensive than their own Geforce series. The price difference isn't because it performs better in gaming, it's because it's designed for professionals in applications like CAD work. You have to make sure you're informed or you can end up spending extra money on less performance.

2) The LCD
(Liquid Crystal Display) or flat panel display

There is a lot of confusion with LCDs and which is the best choice not only in gaming notebooks, but any notebook purchase. A lot of the reason for confusion is that some LCDs are better for different uses and personal choice can be a big factor also. For gaming notebooks, there are mainly 6 different specs that play a role in how good your LCD is. These specs are : Rise/Fall time, Brightness, Angle view, Contrast, Resolution, and Size.

SPEED
You need the fastest computer money can buy. Period!

In order to get the maximum performance from your ultimate gaming computer you must have the fastest speed you can get or afford. Your ultimate PC must be able to process and handle the latest 3D video games with ease. There is nothing as annoying as your PC freezing up in the middle of some major gaming action!

Therefore, your Processor’s speed is very important.

CPU or Central Processing Unit, you probably know it as the processor! It’s the heart or rather the brain of your notebook or computer. It does all your computer’s data processing and applications. Since it does most of the work, it’s usually the most expensive part of your notebook computer.

Go with SATA!

SATA is a type of hard drive and stands for Serial Advanced Technology Architecture. It was developed by a whole group of companies including Seagate, Intel, Maxtor, Dell and others. SATA transmit data in a serially (in a single stream) as opposed to PATA or Parallel ATA which is commonly referred to as an IDE hard drive.

Serial ATA hard drives uses less power and are ideal for notebook computers, they are also more advanced than PATA hard drives which uses multiple streams of data - go figure! But Serial Technology carries data in a single stream and unlike PATA is not limited to a particular clock speed, Serial transfers data packets almost 30 times faster than parallel.

If top performance in your notebook is one of your goals, go with a SATA hard drive.

Intel Pentium M processors are commonly found in a lot of notebooks and laptops. When in doubt also go with a Pentium!

The speed of microprocessors is measured in MHz.

MHz is short for megahertz. One MHz equals one million cycles per second. The speed of processors, usually known as clock speed, is measured in megahertz (MHz) or these days in gigahertz (GHz).

The higher the clock speed, the faster the computer will process applications and data. It determines how powerful your notebook computer will be. Processor speeds for notebooks or laptops are steadily increasing, not quite the same as a desktop but the gap is narrowing quickly. Speeds of 3.4GHz or more.

Don’t forget to ask or check the hard drive speed! A 7,200rpm hard drive is faster than a 4,200rpm or 5,400rpm and usually gives better performance.

I Love PS3, and You?

Well! The Nintendo’s and Apple’s of this world can wait. Sony keeps arriving with a bang each time and subtly mars any of their chances. Again, this time with the gaming console PS3 or playstation 3, Sony has come up just the perfect way. The PS3 has completely caught the imagination of masses and the gaming console is fast turning people into islands. Most of them just need this unique piece in their hand and the rest of the world might go to the dogs for all they care. Funny! The way the playstation gets stuck in our psyche. Now the PS3 is completely blessed with graphic interfaces and multimedia capabilities. The multimedia-enabled videos open a different world in the gaming consoles. The playstation 3 revolutions can be gauged by the download statistic associated with it. Portals are having a field day. There are a sizeable amount of them and each is making tidy business letting people download games on to their PS3. Now few cautions: while downloading on to your PS3, never go for a peer-to-peer file sharing program. It introduces a lot of malware and Trojans and also the quality of download is debatable. Downloading from an authentic portal is just the right idea. It may take an initial subscription fee but that is only a one time fee with no further hidden costs. With each extra download on to PS3, the cost per download effectively minimizes. There are many ways to get a free PS3. Let’s understand one of them. Register with a free PS3 site and insert a genuine shipping address so that they may send your PS3 to the right place. Now Sony is fighting home brew battles and though it is sincerely upgrading the firmware for playstation 3, each time it is outsmarted by hackers. Hackers do not like themselves being called pirates. They believe that Sony fundamentally denies its user the highest pleasure that can be drawn through PS3. Its aim is to profit and hence it does not open all the locks to the hardware as it might enhance manufacturing costs. The PS3 homebrew wizards simply run unassigned codes in the hardware and enable a lot more multimedia features in the unit. The users suddenly feel a new PS3 breathing within the old one. The only issue is that your warranty will be annulled by Sony if you use any of the modified codes for your PlayStation 3. The PS3 hardware is strong enough to be used in supercomputers and other advanced computing models. Sony has introduced system software and the update can be downloaded from playstation network. The Playstation 3 has outsold Xbox 360 since sometime in the middle of the year 2007. The dreaded red rings of the Xbox have already fuelled a lot of buyer apprehension towards it. As of now, Playstation 3 is not suffering from any hardware reverses. Free PS3’s are up for grabs. Just make hay while Sony is shining.

The Next Generation Gaming Experience

The Future of Gaming

Video games are an important part of modern society. They influence how we spend our money, how we spend our time, and even what jobs are available for computer geeks. Every year, new and innovative approaches are used in the video game world. Just think of how far graphics have evolved over the last ten years alone. So, what can we expect from our games in the future? Now it seems the possibilities are truly endless.

Online gaming is the way of the future. In fact, until the end of 2008, it will probably be a 4 billion U.S. dollars industry. Soon, online gamers will be able to use a range of mobile devices to play anywhere on earth. The next generation of handheld consoles is not only the even greater graphics capabilities and processing speed, but also much more efficient Internet connectivity. This means users on the go can play online games, wherever they are. What's more, new equipment allows you to connect to a variety of games, regardless of their platform.

Another innovation for the future of the gaming generation is procedural questions. This term refers to users' ability to take their own content in a game. No more games are on the rigid boundaries of their original developers. Take for example spores mines. This upcoming video game users will begin as single-celled organism and grow into an interplanetary civilization. The game has not really ending. The choice of users help unlimited makes new worlds, planets, and species. How is this possible? Simply put, developers have only needed to win the game of the blueprint. The actual path follows the game and the images are created entirely generated based on user input. Thus, an army of designers and developers is not necessary to this type of new games.

Not only the players have more and more control over their games, they will also be the opportunity to interact with other players on a whole new level. The whole virtual communities will be developed with infinite possibilities for the expansion. This goes beyond a basic chat room. Users will soon be able to own their virtual homes, friends, and even entertainment experiences. The first such virtual society on the market is likely to Sony's PS3 Home. But other developers are finally their own versions of virtual worlds on the market. Introduce yourself to the movies with your friends in a completely digital experience directly from your game console or PC. Better yet, try to walk through a virtual shopping mall and see how all the products you want to buy. Then simply drag your virtual credit card and have those goods shipped right to your door. All this is possible with the virtual world of the future.

Finally, games are so mature, they will not even be displayed on the console with. Instead, developers are already working on a system called the Virtual Retinal Display, the project would photos right on a user's eyes. Within ten years, we should easily see, sunglasses style devices on the market. Soon after, you can begin to see that the devices can be controlled directly through brain power. Sounds crazy, but developers are already working on devices where people can with their computer brains. At least three companies have already designs in the works, and some are already benefiting people who have been disabled.

Technology really has the power to expand indefinitely, and many people work for the video game world to the next level. While some of these innovations seem far away, they all planned developments are expected to be on the consumer market in the next twenty years. So, keep your eyes and ears open and be on the lookout for new gaming developments that will revolutionize the industry and our society as a whole.

Spore, The Year's Most Anticipated PC Game? - creators of The Sims, comes Maxis's next wild burst of imagination, Spore

Probably the year's most eagerly awaited PC game, Spore arrives from the folks who brought you The Sims series of games.

This ambitious new effort, from designer Maxis, allows players to control the evolution of a species--from paddling around as a single-cell organism in primordial soup to developing a sentient creature culture to launching an interstellar spacefaring civilization.

Part of your task will be to coax a wriggling critter out of primordial waters and onto two, four or perhaps even six feet. You'll palaver and hunt and sometimes hoedown with other life forms, shepherding a handful of nesting beasties into a planet-straddling empire. At some point you'll lift off into space, exploring thousands of whirling orbs that are seeded with species devised by other players and folded into your own universe on the fly.

Most important, you don't just play that scenario; you design it, making Spore's most compelling attribute the way it blurs the line between creator and consumer. Though it's not the be-all and end-all that its five years in the cooker may have suggested, Spore is a transfixing, perplexing, occasionally vexing, but mostly triumphant example of what happens when a design team gets the balance between imposition and choice almost exactly right.

(For more about Spore, read PC World's interview with Lucy Bradshaw, the game's executive producer.)

Warhammer Online, Vs. World of Warcraft

To actually see which one is better, we will just have to wait until WAR (Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning), in September 2008. However, we can take a look at the similarities and differences Mythic Entertainment Project (GMS), together with blizzards masterpiece, wow. The two games are dependent on war torn fantasy realms, and both games you can choose between the pages you want part of the Alliance and Horde for World of Warcraft and the armies of Order and destruction Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning.

In these groups to choose, you can chose the character of the race you want in the groups. In war, there are only 6 races three to each group, the dwarfs, the kingdom, and the high elves on the one hand, and the green skin, dark elves, and chaos on the other side. For World of Warcraft, there are now ten races splitting five to each side. On the Alliance side, there was the the night elves, dawrfs, dwarves, humans and draenie. On the hand, there are hordes; orcs, trolls, Tauren, Undead and the blood elves.

The difference in the two games are not so noticeable on the surface, since they occur in the interior game on this side, although the appearance of the games has its own signatures, it is a darker more realistic to believe war as to WoW toons. In addition to the graphic distinctiveness two styles, it is really the game that the troughs in two different directions. World of Warcraft is very driven and adventure epic, so that the very crowded fantasy adventure and makes it easy for you to play in character. Warhammer Online has more player vs. player, realm vs. realm feel, where you can WoW player vs. player for good positions and the desire to show your friends on the other side is better, it is still on the basis Lower part of the epic. The Warhammer quests are not so hedious to do what you concentrated primarily in PVP / RVR. In WAR, however, an atmosphere of permanent war, you can even level of other players to beat. In WoW the rewards for players against players have already said as a chance to get epic gear. In WAR the best players at the end of the week will be the temporary statues built in their image.

The two games have a similar appearance and the games have similar origins, but once you play the two in contradiction with each other are two different games. They make the judges, if you is better than the other. Warhammer Online also has its own unique gameplay realm known as VS. The range of dates from its previous successful MMORPG known as Dark Age of Camelot. The opposing faction are in a position to restrict competition in major fighting in open combat and castle sieges of more than 200 players simultaneously. Speaking processor supremacy eh? In World of Warcraft, you are in an open battle for Player vs. Player realm is very limited due to great restrictions and lack of opportunities for combating the opposing faction. Both games will use the same currency. In Warhammer, gold is also called as WoW. So why many players are looking for places to buy cheap gold war

Free Online Games: a Roller Coaster of Fun at No Cost

With the prevailing and still rising technological innovations, the Internet has seeped into every area of city life. Only a few years back, online games hit the Metropolitan municipalities and gave rise to a vortex of enthusiasm and recognition, especially from the younger generation. Many games portals have been introduced and the online entertainment industry is the minting money.

The range of games available on these websites is exhaustive. From racing games in arcades, these sites offer obscure genre of games. Today, gaming portals try to children and girls as their primary customers. Most popular games are generally violence-free and more surreal.

Some of the popular games in this category, the heavy metal-Girl, Stary night, or Warrior Princess, Flight training, etc. These games are designed and developed taking into account the nature and inclination of girls and children.

The arcade games and racing games are still played most categories, as the concept of online games has been introduced. These games provide ultimate joy and enthusiasm to the players. The Age of Empires: Conquerors campaign, is an award-winning game of this genre. The game exceeds expectations in its interface, design, logic and the challenges that stand out. The theme of the game revolves around Gothic civilization, where different tribes fought for power and territorial expansion. The player is invited to select from a number of communities and tribes for representing him and the opponents.

Another game, created historic milestone in the gaming industry is Prince of Persia. Brilliant scheme, enormous challenges and a surreal backdrop spectacular is the reason why it is one of the most played games even a decade after its founding. It extends to almost fifteen stages before valiant Prince of Persia managed to rescue the princess from the evil spell of the Caliph. The intensity of the stops in ascending difficulty with the levels. It sometimes takes days of the player, is the last phase of the game.

Online games have now turned out like an addiction. People addicted to their PC and refuse to budge until the desired level of satisfaction can be achieved only win if it had all the hurdles and win the game.

These days, the multiplayer games are a great sensation. Gaming has turned out to be a way to a meeting point with friends, family and relatives. Play interact with or against your friends and get the maximum fun from these games. Two is fun, more party with the multi-player games. Hop into play to express and explore the mystery of online games.

Too Human: Tedious and Out of Balance

Too Human's story is a lumbering, clanging muddle, a clumsy collision of canned dialogue and confusing narrative. On a planet (Earth?) populated by cybergods modeled after the Aesir of Norse mythology, myth meets mech. At first it seems like a riff on Roger Zelazny's Hugo-winning 1967 sci-fi novel Lord of Light, about the perils of fabricated divinity. Unfortunately, the only thing Too Human--the first chapter in a proposed trilogy by director Denis--explores in depth are the pitfalls of tedious melodrama.

SCEA's Jack Tretton has plans to get more PlayStation 3s and PlayStation Portables in gamer's hands.

SCEA's Jack Tretton has plans to get more PlayStation 3s and PlayStation Portables in gamer's hands. This Fall, Sony is set to replace the 40GB PS3 with an 80GB Core model. Selling for $399, it makes a lot of sense for the PS3's future. With all the content they want to push through the online storefront, you really need that hard drive to take advantage of the PS3. Now, it's not just the PS3 that's getting value packs in the works.

Meanwhile, a Ratchet and Clank Entertainment Limited Edition PSP Pack is slated for the for the holidays. Along with a silver PSP comes a 1GB Memory Stick Duo, the game, a copy of National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets, and a voucher for a copy of the 3D puzzle game. A cagey move to try and lure in a handheld-craving audience. But will it coax over people that already own a DS? Drop in enough value (which Sony is) and they have a fighting chance.

Actually, while we're at it, how about a couple PSP games that I got peeks at (and plan to scrutinize closer over the next couple days).
Resistance Retribution is another take on the PS3 franchise. Y'know shoot aliens, avoid their bites -- stuff like that. It looks like a third-person action / shooting game and those are a little tricky to pull off on a handheld. Will they fare better?

Madden NFL 09: The Best Madden Yet - Madden 09 is the most streamlined Madden ever.

Two decades of Madden are nipped, tucked, and stitched into the finest version ever of this venerated franchise.

Madden NFL 09 is not a revolution in football gaming. It doesn't deliver the best conceivable rendering of hulking frames lugging a rawhide-laced pigskin up and down a floodlit or sunlit field (though it is as close as you’ll get outside a pro jersey and cleats). It doesn't present a radically different way to play the game either. Fullbacks and safeties and wide receivers do not fly on broomsticks with paddles, swatting footballs with wings. This is American football, not American Gladiators, and the basics haven’t changed much over the years. Got all that? Expectations back on earth? Good. Now relax: Madden NFL 09 delivers a triumphant celebration of armchair quarterbacking, with a clever new adaptive difficulty mode, vital procedural animations, online league and franchise updates, and a battery of analytical tools.

Microsoft Says: Xbox will Limit Avatar Use

Microsoft has provided a few more details on its new Xbox Live Avatar system, including how developers will be able to use them in-game, and how many avatars each Xbox 360 owner will be able to have on their consoles.

Avatars will be made available only for in-game play on ESRB E10+ titles, said Xbox Live GM Eric Kilgore. And, unlike Nintendo's Mii system, the Microsoft avatars will be one per system, at least for now.

"We are still developing the final policies," he said, adding that "The final guide we have this year is to think of them in an 'E10' context. That doesn't mean it won't change - but this Fall they won't be able to blow each other's heads off," he said.

As for players having a collection of Avatars, a la the Wii, Kilgore said, "the answer is a mixed one. From a user profile perspective you have one avatar for one profile. You can change your avatar whenever you want but if you want a new avatar you need a new profile."

Kilgore also said the avatar process is a work in progress, with future changes possible after the fall.

Final Fantasy XIII Demo Coming in March in Japan - Hot

Japanese game publisher Square Enix updated fans on several of its new titles at an event in Tokyo over the weekend. The roughly 1,500 fans who got to attend the closed-door "DKÎŁ3713" got a chance to see the latest trailers for a host of hot-games including three in the "Final Fantasy XIII" series and news of a playable demo for the game.

Among the biggest news from the event is that a playable demo of "Final Fantasy XIII" will be included in the Blu-ray Disc package for the "Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete" animation title. Square Enix will put the high-def version of the movie on sale in March next year packaged with the demo. The box will also include trailers for "Final Fantasy Versus XIII" and "Final Fantasy Agito XIII," making it a must-have for Final Fantasy fans.

This is likely the biggest piece of news for gamers outside of Japan as the country shares a Blu-ray Disc video region code with the U.S. and games are typically not region-locked. So, Ebay entrepreneurs start your engines -- this will be a hot item on the import market.

As for the game itself, "Final Fantasy XIII" is coming in 2009 in Japan, Square Enix said. As the event is Japan-focused it refrained from making any comment on other markets.

Square Enix made headlines at the recent E3 show in Los Angeles with news that "Final Fantasy XIII" will also be coming to the Xbox 360 platform. While any details concerning the Xbox 360 version of the game were not announced -- the console is in a trailing third place in Japan -- the company did seek to reassure fans that the game will be developed first-and-foremost for the PlayStation 3 platform so it will benefit from the console's full high-def gaming.

Only after the PlayStation 3 version is completed will the team work on the Xbox 360 version.

In addition to a spectacular trailer for the game a home movie-style video filmed by developed Tetsuya Nomura was also shown. In the video he talked and joked with four members of the FFXIII development team about their work on the game. Among the snippets to come out of the video was news that Square Enix will reveal some of the voice actors at October's Tokyo Game Show and that character development is due to be completed at around the same time. That would appear to rule out a playable demo of the game at TGS.

A part of the world in which the game takes place was also shown and it's huge. There was some discussion among the developers about just how much of the world to include on the playable demo and Nomura expressed a worry that gamers might easily get lost inside the world due to its size.

In other news, "Final Fantasy Agito XIII" will be appearing on the PlayStation Portable in addition to the PlayStation 3 and the trailer of "Final Fantasy Versus XIII" ended with the line "PlayStation 3 only worldwide."
